First City Court Clerk's Office is the clerical and processing branch of
the First City Court of New Orleans. The Clerk's Office is the initial
step when filing lawsuits within the jurisdiction of First City Court.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND JURISDICTION:
First City Court's
jurisdiction includes civil lawsuits with claims up to $25,000;
small claims suits up to $5,000; and
evictions for residential and commercial properties with rental fees
within the jurisdictional limit of up to $3,000 per month.

FILING FEES (NON-REFUNDABLE)
Filing fees are
established by the Court sitting En Banc. Parties seeking to litigate
without payment of these fees may do so by applying to proceed "In
Forma Pauperis". The pauper form must be filled out and
notarized. We accept payment for fees by credit card.

The Clerk's Office accepts filings
through facsimile. In accordance with LSA-R.S. 13:850 the following
must be received within five (5) days, exclusive of legal
holidays, for the facsimile filing to have full force and effect:
- (1) The original signed document.
- (2) All applicable filing fees
must be enclosed with the original.
- (3) An additional $5.00 facsimile
transmission fee must be enclosed for each document transmitted plus
an additional $2.50
per page for transmissions in excess of two (2)

open and available for public viewing and copying. No records
may be removed from the office of First City Court by either attorneys
or private citizens.
Deputy Clerks are available by telephone to answer questions relative
to cases filed in First City Court.
